John Sweazy (sic) a young man of rare promise died at the home of his parents near Cedar Bluff Greene (?) county last Friday. His father Mr S. G. Sweazy (sic) is an invalid from exposure in the service of his country during the late war, his mother is an invalid also.Young Mr. Sweazey (sic) was twenty three years of age and was one of the most excellant young gentlemen of our acquaintance he was manly at all times, just and kind in every respect, a young man of good attainments for his chance. His devotion to his parents was from a pure motive and he acted the part of a son who is a fit example for all young men of our country.
The strongest sympathy goes out to the bereaved parents and brothers and sisters. We need not depend upon the overdrawn story to remind us of the pure manly devotion of a young man to his parents and younger brothers and sisters, for those who knew this noble young man can only call to mind one who will be an example for the highest type of manhood, for them and their children for all time.
