Torchlight Parade
Wednesday, July 21
Walk and let people know our program
promotes healthy living and exercise!
Enjoy being a part of one of the premiere parades in America!
Where: DeLaSalle High School Parking Lot on Nicollet Island
When: 10K walkers must start by 5:30 p.m.
or be back to the start point by 6:30 p.m.
Parade walkers only (6K or 4 miles) will leave at 6:30 p.m. sharp!
Registration must be finished by then.
All walkers MUST sign a waiver and registration card to participate.
the
parade begins at 8:30 p.m. and goes until 10:30 p.m.
Walkers should be prepared
for typical parade "stop and go" throughout the route.
We will be walking in the
McDonald's section of the parade with Ronald McDonald.
Handouts about our program
will be provided for walkers to give out along the parade
route.
Award: T-shirt with the "Go Active" logo provided by McDonald's.
Only walkers who walk the parade will be given t-shirts
and they must be worn in the parade.
Walkers are asked to wear dark shorts or pants for the parade.
Cost: There is no cost for participating in this walk unless you want the IVV credit stamp in your record books, which will cost $3.
Parking will cost $1.50 per car, proceeds going to the school as a fundraiser.
Directions: From 35W: Take
the University 4th Street exit (one way going west) to 1st Ave. and
go left. Follow 1st Ave. to Main Street and take a left (Riverplace
will be on your left). Follow Main Street to Merriam and go right
(you will cross a short bridge.) Go around Nicollet Island Inn, under
the Hennepin Ave. bridge and you will see DeLaSalle High School.
From other freeways: Go north on 35W to the University 4th
Street exit and follow above directions. There are many ways to get
to Nicollet Island ... just remember that many downtown streets will
be closed off for the parade, so you can avoid that by not going
through downtown.
